11/4/25 (11am)....I don't know about the quality of your services, but one of your vans needs to be polite and drive safely, instead of cutting and forcing the van in, with no … More indicator or acknowledgement, to a waiting traffic queue that signposts stated, well in advance, was narrowing from two lanes to one lane in Westbury-on-Trym. Your vans signage, ironically, states "Polite, Courteous.....". Really ? (LJ73 YOE) ?? Not sure if this reg plate is exact though.....Update : (12:30)....Thank you for your quick response ! -

MJP were quick to respond, and had good availability which suits my needs well, and offered a good competitive/fair price.Dan was the electrician who came out to conduct an EIRC, then … More followed up with the work needed. He was very professional, and took pride in his work making sure all my work was done correctly and neatly, even when out out site. I was able to leave Dan to it and carry out my tasks for that day.Dan was also very friendly with good customer interaction; explaining to me what he did and elements of the job or about the rest of the circuit he noticed.Would definitely use MJP again, and would welcome Dan back, as he was sound and trust worthy, and did a good job.Thanks. -

I can recommend MJP Services as they are very professional offering a good service. Easy to arrange electrical repairs over the phone and came exactly on the time promised. The engineer … More was polite and carried out the repair to my complete satisfaction. Would definitely use MJP again when the needs arise. -

We had a weird outage of power at our home and called on MJP for an emergency call out. They came within the time frame they said gave us a clearer timeframe when they were on their … More way.Matt turned up and he was superb! He calmly got to work around a busy household and identified the issue so quickly. He explained everything to us really well (no talking down to us) and went through the fix and explained next steps to ensure this type of things never happened again. We got a quote that evening that we believe is really reasonable and we’ll be sure to book MJP for the follow up work and anything in the future.Overall very professional, timely and knowledge electricians. -

MJP Electrical completed my works regarding electrical certification for a domestic rental property. I had a very short space of time before tenants were moving in and their team went … More above and beyond to make sure my works were completed before the deadlines. Everything was completed to a high standard and their team are very professional. Thank you to Matt and Lawrence who looked after my works and to Jamie and Ashley for arranging everything at such short notice. -

I was very pleased that they came to my house for a survey of the works I needed completing but they were very thorough and identified some other electrical work that was potentially … More dangerous. They gave me several quotes and it was a very non pushy sales process. I appreciated the thorough approach to making my electrics better around the house rather than just the one area I had initially considered. I was sourcing a specific light for the job and was repeatedly let down by the delivery company but the team were understanding and flexible with rearranging the final part of the job. I was very grateful for this. All in all a great job. Thank you.

Frequently asked questions
Let us answer your important questions
A: If a property hasn’t been rewired in the last 25-30 years, it will probably need upgrading, whether partially or fully, to ensure it complies with current safety standards. Given the sheer volume of electrical devices used in modern households compared to the 1980s and 90s, the existing wiring might be under strain from a high level of electricity usage, and could potentially be dangerous.
A full or partial rewire might also be required if you’re planning major renovation work that would be defined as a ‘material alteration’ by the Building Regulations. This will usually include an upgrade of the fuse board. In the case of room extensions and attic or garage conversions, any new wiring will need to comply with Part P (Electrical Safety) of the Building Regulations, and existing wiring in those rooms will also need to be improved to ensure it can safely carry additional loads; is earthed according to current requirements; and has satisfactory cross bonding. If you’re remodelling or extending, the wiring in the rest of your property won’t need upgrading unless required by the Building Regulations’ energy efficient requirements, e.g. central heating controls.
A: As an NICEIC Approved Contractor, you can rest assured that all work will be carried out with minimal disruption and in accordance with all relevant regulations and safety standards. Here’s a summary of what we do when rewiring a home:
- Fully assess the work required and provide you with a full quotation before we start.
- Check the existing connection to make sure it meets the correct legal requirements.
- Carry out the rewire, ensuring that we perform a full electrical safety test on all wiring.
- Test that the circuit and fuse board are functioning as they should.
- Check all sockets and power outputs to ensure they conform to current building regulations.
- Provide a copy of a rewiring certificate for electrical installation, detailing all the work required to make your property safe.
Our electricians treat every customer’s property like their own, using shoe protectors and dust mats where necessary, and always cleaning up once a job is complete.
A: Many UK homes have old electrical wiring and getting your home rewired is a great way of adding value and ensuring safe and reliable operation. Electrical rewiring costs will vary depending on some factors including:
- The size of your house (naturally a three bedroom house will cost more than a one bedroom flat).
- Whether the home is occupied during the rewiring (electricians will work faster in an empty property).
- The specification of fittings and fixtures you choose (stainless steel versus white PVC sockets etc.).
- The number of socket outlets etc. and other extras such as security lighting or outside power points.
- Where you live in the UK because of regional variances in contractor costs across the country.
A: We have been rewiring homes for a long time so we have got the process off to a tee we can rewire homes in as little as 2-3 days depending on specification and size of the property. Typically it takes:
1 Bedroom 4-7 days
2 Bedrooms 5-8 days
3 Bedrooms 6-10 days
4 Bedrooms 1-2 weeks
5 Bedrooms 10-15 days
- System in excess of 30 years.
- Old fusebox
- Old accessories
- Frequently Tripping fuses
- “Green slime” oxidation of cables
- Sockets mounted on skirting boards
- Black rubber cables
